Christmas

Yeah for Christmas and spending time with friends and family! This Christmas has been such a wonderful one. Although I missed two of my grandparents terribly, I had a wonderful time with my other family and my friend (and roomie) Ashley who got to spend Christmas eve with us. This has been a difficult year, but God has show himself to me in wonderful ways and I hope that he will do the same for all of you in this coming year.

Remembering Break

As you can see my mid-semester break consisted of the three X-Men movies (which I had never seen before and I must admit I did enjoy them but the third was a bit of a let down.), The Guardian (In theatres-it was a very well done film-if you haven't seen it you should.), Titanic(because Rachel had never seen it in English and you have to at least see it once.), Family Man (because niether Rachel not I had seen it and it looked interesting.), tons of Boy Meets World (because..um... Cory,Tapanga, Shawn, Erik...need I say more.), and of course spending time with family(because they are the best ever.) By the way I did do homework too, but I had four days so I had to get some relaxing in!!! Now I am back at school wishing I was at home relaxing but life is good and I think I passed my Bibliology and Theology Proper test!!!!

Adventures

Well, I have decided that when ever something happens to you that you did not suspect and that is not particularly what you want to have happen to you, the best thing that you should do is have a good attitude. These events are what I like to call "adventures"-and not particularly in a good sense. Let me tell you about one that happened to me last friday. So, I took my friend Rachel to go see the movie Step Up-a very cute movie by the way-and we had a great time until the movie ended and when putting the smuggled food back into my purse I realized that my keys where not there. And sure enough when we got to my car they where hanging in the ignition! So after giving myself a few minutes to freak out, Rachel and I call my roommate, Ashley, and friend Nicole to bring a hanger and then we waited for a half hour before they arrived-not that it did much good because none of us could get the door unlocked. Can I just interupt the story to say that sitting in a movie theatre parking lot and having so many people stare at is not very fun. Anyway, we had to move to plan B which was to call all the people we know who might be able to help us. Esther, another friend, ended up coming and trying to get it, but she had no success either-and she is a security gaurd! Then we thought Security gaurd-what a novel idea-but that didn't work either because the movie theatre security gaurd could not help because of "liabilities". So after many many attempts a couple of guys came up to us and offered to help because they missed their movie-we were all so desperate that we accepted. We exchanged the casual greetings and found that one of the guys knows Multnomah and goes to the Nazarene church down the road! They soon realize that my car cannot be broken into with a hanger so they drive all the way to Clacamas to get a Slim Jim set and yet, it still does not work. Finally after three hours of intense stress for myself, and may sympathetic onlookers we get in-only with the help of a cool little air tool. Lets just say that I will never again leave my keys in the car-and if I do I will definantly have back up plans in place. So if you are having a bad day just remember my little "adventure"and it will make you not fell so bad.

Vacation

Well I just returned from my trip to Florida to visit my Uncle, Aunt and cousins and it was a wonderful trip. As you can see we got to go swiming with Dolphins which was a once in lifetime experience. We also spent a day at DisneyWorld and Sea world which was really fun but also really hot and humid. The rest of the time was spent relaxing and hanging out with my family. Swiming with such big and awesome animals was an adventure. The are very majestic creatures and it was fun to learn some ways to get them to talk and jump. They are a lot bigger then I would have thought and had no problem pulling me through the water-they are really strong. It made me want to be a dolphin trainer. While at Discovery Cove(the place where we swam with them)we also got to snorkel and see lots of tropical fish and in the middle of the reef was a ship wreck and if you swim up to the glass you can see baricuda and sharks!!! Its is really cool if you know that there is glass there but while swiming it is sometimes hard to see! We also got to wade into a reef with sting rays and we got to pet them and feed them-it was really neat. Now I am back home and am getting some relaxation in before I have to head back up to school in a couple of weeks.

Relearning the Alphabet

So today was my friend Emily's last day at the nursery (tear!). We had a good day but it was hard to say goodbye! The last couple of days have been filled with laughter(to find out more check out Emily's blog by clicking on the link that says Come Fly with Aerogirl)and today was no exception. As you can read in her blog, to pass the time we pick a theme and then use the letters of the alphabet to begin our thoughts. We have made up stories and have had some pretty interesting conversations. But today we decided that we would go through the alphabet and say what we were thankful for. This list included Amy(Emily's sister), our moms, friends, etc. Emily was the unlucky one who got stuck with the letter Q which just happens to be the hardest letter to use (you might think that X would be hard too but we allow each other to use EX for X-it's cheating, we know, but give us a break, what kind of letter is X). So after a long pause she says "Oh, yeah, God." Now earler in the day she had used the letter G in the place of Q and we had had a good laugh over it and I thought that she was just doing it to be funny, but no, she had no idea that she had made the mistake. That is until I started busting up and told her that we needed to go back to elemtery school because we both know that God starts with G and not Q. When she realized what she had said she started laughing too. It took us a good two minutes to calm back down and after a bit Emily says "OK, Quiet Time?" and I said, "Yeah, that works" and so the game went on. I would just love to get into the mind of the Hispanic woman who is working with us and see what she thought for us for those two minutes when we were laughing histerically-infact she probably thinks we are crazy because she was with us yesterday as well(refer to emily's blog). Any way I thought that I would share that funny story with all of you- may you all have a good laugh.
Em, I will miss you tomorrow and friday. Love you tons.

Bees, Baseball, and the 4th of July

So today happens to be the fourth of July, our glorious nation's birthday. A time of relaxation, family, hot dogs, hamburgers, and fireworks. A day on which we celebrate our freedom, independence, and liberty. We hang the flag on our porches and we play patriotic music as we strike up the BBQ. So as I woke up this morning to my parents yelling at our dog who got loose I realized with great joy that I did not have to go to work-an added benefit to freedom and liberty. I prepared myself for the day and sat down to a nice breakfest of fruit loops and a good baseball movie. I figure there is no better way to spend the 4th than to watch a movie about America's favorite pasttime. Much too soon the credits started rolling and I was off to my next task-cleaning Henry-my cute Ford. This was not an easy task-I had to overcome many obstacles including insane bees, out of control dogs, and neighbors. But an hour later he was shining like the top of the Chrysler building! Anyway I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th and I hope that we would all take time to be thankful for the freedoms that we have.

P.S. I'm pretty sure that on the 14th of July France celebrates some sort of independence day. And no, Geron, they don't wear necklaces with symbols of their revolution, I hope!

No more funny

So I was going to write ths really funny blog about my day at work today but as I am sitting here my mind has gone completely blank and it seems that all of the funny has left me. If I were to have written this blog a few hours ago you would all be cracking up-or at least Geron would be cracking up because she would get all the nersury jokes. But alas-there is no funny and all of the cute blogging worthy stories have left me-yep, their gone! So I think that I will say that all is well with me and life trudges on. God is good and in control which makes things a lot easier for me. All that to say that I really don't have anything to blog about so I hope you all have a great day.

Post Script: If anyone has any suggestions on how to complain without actually complaining you can tell me about them by commenting. This would be very helpful for me seeing as how I have told Geron that this summer I am really going to be working on not complaining but my back really hurts-so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

The utter craziness that is my life

Where to start? On a rabbit trail of course... yesterday I was helping my mom with work and I was proof reading a couple of paragraphs to her on how to help people respond and interact during a certain activity. One of the suggestions was to summerize what you are feeling in one word. All this to say I think that the word I would use to describe how I am feeling in this activity called life would be...Imperceptible (adj.: not perceptible by a sense or by the mind)! This is so true because with all the things that have happened in my life the last couple of weeks there really isn't a conceivable way to describle how I feel with one word (or a million for that matter). So now you are all dying to hear about my life.. right?.. I knew it! Ok so lets start and the very beginning (a very good place to start-sorry another rabbit trail). My brother got married-beautiful wedding and I now have a sister! My first year of college ended and I passed!!!!! I moved back home and have now started working at the nursery-its my second summer there-yeah for summer jobs! And for rainy days and delicious 'sack' lunches made by my wonderul mother (there's another trail). On a more serious note my grandpa is dying of cancer and it is been very hard to see him decline-I am so thankful that he has a relationship with Christ and I am learning to lean on Christ through this situation. Oh, I could go on and on and on and on but pretty soon you would get board and start to scoll down to see if there are any pictures that you might have missed in my previous blogs so I will sign off. Love to all!!

P.S. To all who would understand I think that I have competed with Dr. Aldrich with my rabbit trails!

Positions Everyone

So...um...want to see an amazing movie? I have just the one for you...Take the Lead. Best movie this year so far and I think it has made my top five of all time list. The stories were great-you will laugh and you will cry- and the dancing(oh the dancing...it speaks for itself). The acting was good to -it is not everyday when a movie is full of relatively unknown actors that can actually act without looking like they are trying to act. A fun movie to watch but be careful when you come out of the theartre your feet might be moving more then you thought they could...mine were!!!

Great News!

Well, three days till spring break and I cannot wait. Life is good but this break will be so nice. Guess what!!!! We are now allowed to watch movies in out dorm rooms!!! So Rachel, Ruth-Anne and I said a sad fairwell to the backseat of Maxwell, Rachel's car, and are now enjoying the comfort of a bed to sit on while we watch such movies as: Pirates of the Carribean, Armeggdon, and Out of Africa. Sad to say that other then those movies there has been no time to watch more. I guess that this is good because we are at college to study. I just thought I would share that joyous news with all of you. Blessings on all of you as you finish out the week.

"We could be heros..."

"...forever and ever" Thats right-Moulin Rouge was the movie of choice last night and I must say that I rather enjoyed it. It was very unsusal but has some very redeeming factors as well. In fact the music (the songs, as the case may be, were the redeeming factors) was so amazing that I spend the rest of the night signing them out at the tops of my lungs. The Roxanne Tango was the song that was sung while using Erin's exercise ball and the Elephant Melody was the song that I sung while cleaning the bathroom floor because of an overflowed toilet. Lets just say the entire west side of the dorm knows how bad Sarah can sing!

alarm clocks and paper cuts

So this morning at 7:26-41 minutes after I am supposed to wake up- my roomate hits my hand and tells me that it is seven thirty! I basically jumped out of bed, ran to the shower, ran back, changed, and ran to breakfest in 15 minutes so I could eat before my 8:00 class. So that was my almost disasterous morning. Then I have been giving myself random paper cuts for the last two days now and I am really getting tired of it. It think I am up to five or six. Anyway, a word of advice, if you erase something and are trying to wipe off the erase left overs make sure to give yourself plenty of room between your finger and the edge of the paper!!!! Have a great day!

1/2 Brithday

Wednesday, January 25 just happened to be my 18 1/2 birthday and I was determined to have a good day. Nothing was going to get me down-not even the rain! To my delight and surprise the girls had hung happy birthday signs out side my door-what a great way to start the day. Because of the signs most people who walked by took it upon themselves to wish me a happy birthday! After classes and work it was time to finish up my big paper on Jonah and wishing that I could go to Taco Bell instead of the cafeteria for dinner. Soon Rachel comes in a suggests that very thing and I eagerly took her up on it-telling her to go invite Ruth-Anne as I got ready. Soon she was back saying that she couldn't find her and we were on our way. As we pulled in, parked and got out of the car I saw a jeep(looking very much like Erins)and thought how fun it would be to have her there-like a little party. Not two seconds later I walked though the door and was shockingly surpised to see 8 girls jump up from behind a counter and wish me a happy half birthday-no wonder Rachel couldn't find Ruth-Anne! After a great dinner with much laughter we got back into the car and I was hit with another surprise-The evening wasn't over yet. They took me to Red Robin for dessert! (At the Red Robin that we went to they tie the balloons around your neck when they sing to you-talk about embarrasing)but I did get a bowl of vanella ice cream(no chacolate!!!!). Basically it was one of the best nights that I have ahd in a very long time-just thought that I would share it with all of you!

Movie Tips

Anyone up for a good movie? Last Holiday is just what you are looking for! A cute movie about the way we live life and what one woman did when she found out she didn't have to much time left. A fun, light-hearted film that was an enjoyment and a good way to spend a dreary afternoon. Previews were good two. Here are some that I am going to have a hard time waiting for: Take the Lead, Lady in the Water, Stick it, and Something New. I encourage all of you to go look them up on IMDB and see for yourselves.

Interpretive Dance

Nothing lifts the spirits like watching a friend create a very impromto interpretive dance. It all started when Rachel brought back her keyboard and her roommate Erin and I got a hold of it. It is a really cool keyboard that plays songs and then shows you how to play them. After examination we found the song "Let it be" by the Beattles and have been playing it non stop since then. After two days of "whisper words of wisdom" running through my head I gave into the fact that it is never going to go away and that I might as well have as much fun with it as I could. So I hooked Ashley's speakers up to my computer, turned the volume up as far as it would go, and blasted my now favorite Beattles song thoughout the dorm. And sure enough Erin rose to the occation and did a wonderful number including jumping off walls and turning circles on the floor-it was basically the best interpretive dance I have ever seen. Just thought you all should know about it!
